The band leader Mark Kovnatskiy is despite his young age, already a much-traveled
and highly regarded violinist, composer and an expert of Yiddish dance.
He played and taught at many music festivals around the world from Canada to former
USSR and worked with stars such as Merlin Shepherd Klezmer Kapelye
(UK / CIS), Allstars Klezmer Band and Aaron Alexander’s Midrash Mish Mosh
(USA). Since 2004 he lives in Hamburg, where he gathered the Hamburg Klezmer
Band at 2007.
Kateryna Ostrovska (aka Rosa Morena Russa) is the singer of "HKB". She performed with various musical projects in Germany, Austria, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, France, Italy, and Switzerland. Musicallly she mostly deals with world music and jazz - this brings a special touch to the musical diversity of the band, especially because of herpredilection for Brazilian folklore. She is also active as a songwriter and plays guitar, pandeiro and cajon.
Stas Dinerman is the accordion player and arranger of the band. In 2002 he graduated from the Music Academy in Omsk and moved to Germany where he played in various projects as an accordion player and pianist. He is a very open musician with great fondness for Balkan music, his heart beats besids Klezmer especially for jazz, forro, samba and tango. He worked alongside his own projects with “Merlin Shepherd Chapel” in England and Spain and with “Polina Fanfara” in Germany.
Manevitch Michael is originally from Bryansk/Russia. He is a unique artist, who alicits melodies not only instruments, but his own body. He plays tunes with his palms - a unique capability in the world. Mikhail graduated from the conservatory in Bryansk and lives in Germany since 1997. He plays tuba, trombone, baritone and tenor saxhorn. Because of his unique talent Mikhail came several times in Russian and German TV (among other things, the "TV Total" by Stephan Raab).
Raphael Becker-Foss is a freelance drummer, percussionist, Baroque timpanist and a lecturer. With his own workshop project ">> RUBBER TIMING" he is touring in the whole Germany. After completing his studies in 2005 at the Düsseldorf Drummers Institute he lived and worked half a year in Berlin before he moved to the beautiful city of Hamburg. Since 2007 he has been an endorser for Wahan-drums. The stylistic range of his projects were he plays the drum set is very wide, it reaches from experimental jazz projects, Cuban music and klezmer to pop and rock. He performs regularly as timpanist with professional baroque ensembles. He has been an tour besides Germany in Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Bulgaria and Poland.
